The Schroeckenfux small trimming scythe blade is 50 cm long and in scything terms considered a short blade. It is a really easy blade to use, particularly useful if mowing in a confined area as it is much easier to manoeuver and is more accurate in getting close to obstacles such as tree trunks and fences. This blade is highly recommended for those who would consider the addition of a field blade later, but like to start small.
The Schroeckenfux grass scythe blades that we sell are well suited to the high silicon content of the Australian native grasses as well as the softer imported grasses. We have asked for a stone tip to be added to all of our grass blades so that when scything properly, i.e. in an arc with the blade slicing through the grass, if your grass is hiding a rock, a bit of wire or a star picket, you’ll hit the obstacle with the stone tip and thus better protect your blade.
